What is the deal behind the cockpit
Speed brake
Not an air brake... Looks like the LiftFan for STOVL.
It is in VSTOL configuration, the rear nozzle in in full down position. USMC bird.
Found pics & video of this aircraft both landing and taking off with its "bonnet" open and nozzle down. I don't see any Marine markings--nor Navy designations either--DEMO aircraft? The cost of a carrier based new F-35 is more than $106 Mil. Shows this suped up helmet that cost $40m

This F-35B isn't a U.S. Navy nor a U.S. Marines bird. It is British...!!!
British Red White & Blue roundel below cocpit gives the game away!
The British "roundel" and all markings are rendered in low-visibility, hence the colour is in grey-tones. By the way, no one is contesting the origin of manufacturing of this a/c by Lockheed Martin... but it is definitely in service to the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and/or the Royal Air Force... and ultimately the Queen, HM Elizabeth II!
This is what STEALTH looks like?
Nice capture Andy...........
Awesome shot!
