"American" didn't receive anything. Republic did.

You are correct, sir, but, that article said that in that manner to avoid confusion. It is complicated to write about RJs with all the "operated by" and stuff like that! :-)

You know, I thought that too. But, if you go to planespotters.net, it shows American Eagle as receiving the aircraft, while Republics shows no new deliveries, just their existing fleet of 170/175's. Seemed weird to me:

It is an American Eagle aircraft, operated by Republic. It is so annoying to explain! :-)

I see the article says the airplane will be operated by Republic Airways under the American Eagle logo. The real American Eagle crews, that have been though thick and thin with American, are getting the screws put to them again with the deal put together by US Air and American to have Republic fly these. The long time American Eagle crews deserve better. Just the view from here, for what it is worth, or not.

Agreed, fully, it is crazy, of all things, they should be operated by AE.
jrniendorf
Not American, not Eagle. Outsourced to Republic.

I have heard from some AE pilots that it is sort of annoying, which it is.

So wait, this is a Regional Airline being operated by a Regional Airline? That makes zero sense. What is their callsign going to be? Brickyard or Eagle Flight?
nickmarconi019
It's operated by Republic, so the callsign is "Brickyard".
Rampken
Yep EAGLE pilots get Screwed Again, Thanks ALPA.. U did a great Job as usual.. Just think if it were a bigger plane say 100 seats, the AA guys would be on strike!!!! If they were not flying it, Like there new A319.. would love to see RP flying those for AA as well..

Bad as it is, Eagle is there in name only now and after the merger, it will probably go away completely. They been trying to sell it since forever but no takers and apparently don't think it's strong enough to stand alone in the dog eat dog world of the RJ's.

I'm surprised American is doing business with Republic given Republic's labor problems with their pilots and other work groups.

I really like these things, at least with the seats Compass uses. Rather be in the back of one of these than an A320 or 737.

Gut the thing, it'd make a decent private jet.

That looks good...

Does look pretty slick, if only I had somewhere to go...

Replublic is flying these because they already have the type on their certificate. They have qualified pilots, an approved training plan, a maintenance program, etc. From the AA perspective, having an existing E175 operator fly these planes is the most cost effective way to add the plane to their system.

Now Phil, you know they are just under the size limit for the scope clauses. They wouldn't do anything like that intentionally. I'm sure it was just an oversight.
speedbird347
I guess these will be replacing more mainline flying out of ORD..
twkeisling
They're already scheduled to start on ORD-DCA, I would say they're replacing more than jsut the one or two rj flights on that route.
avgeekryan
Ryan E. 1
Yeah, probably.
mikeashmore71
AMR received it for American Eagle. American and American Eagle are two separate entities under AMR. If you're going to publish stuff like this, get it right.

Republic has a CPA (Capacity Purchase Agreement) with American. Republic owns and operates the airplane under the Chautauqua operating certificate.
kg0ye
You are exactly correct, Michael.
blake1023
blake1023 2
You're Wrong! Thats just one of 53 airplanes Republic will be flying under a CPA for American.

I worked for Eagle in the 90's at the SOC. When the AA pilots started wearing their SCOPE badges, they started treating us peons like subhuman trash. So, we made SPOILED badges, which stood for Stupid Pilots Obsessed In Leaving Employeees Dejected. Many times these pilots left their building entrance badges at home and expected me to let them in. "Sorry! Against security, I could get into trouble!" First time I had fill out unemployment paperwork. Karma sucks, but is so funny sometimes!
speedbird347
That is quite funny.

the interior reminds me of a sardine can - I sure most passengers will agree.

It's a perfect plane to serve Phoenix' Gateway Mesa Airport, now that Spirit has pulled out. AA, we need more service to large city alternative airports.
