Aeromexico Flight Aborts Takeoff At LAX
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — No injuries were reported, but one of Los Angeles International Airport’s main runways had to be closed following the aborted takeoff of an Aeromexico flight to Mexico City on Saturday morning. Flight 018, a Boeing 737, suffered a landing gear failure as it attempted to take off at 6:33 a.m. from one of the southernmost runways at LAX, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and fire officials. What's the point? A news reader who knows only that airplanes fly reporting that a 73 had a blow out. From this piece of fascinating reporting I have no idea what the cause of the aborted take off was. Maybe it was the blow out or maybe that happened when the brakes were aggressively applied. This is an horrible report and unworthy of a FA presentation. Did the lg collapse first or the tire blow first? Even simple questions go unanswered.
Aero Mexico, who would have thought.
It happened in L.A. That's all that's required to make it newsworthy in today's mucked up media world.

So, the plane experienced a blown tire during the rejected takeoff procedure. Why did the crew reject the takeoff? The blown tire is no big deal. It is obviously preferable to a problem in the air.
When a news department dispatches and ignorant news reader or reporter to a situation, there is no way to tell what the problem was to begin with. As I said above the report is not worthy of Flight Aware's "Squawks"
