LAX Rail Link Project Takes Step Forward

제출됨

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A project that aims to connect LAX and Metro rail took a step forward Thursday. The Metro Board of Directors on Thursday approved the final environmental study for the Airport Metro Connector 96th Street Transit Station, which will connect two Metro lines with a people-mover that will drop off travelers at LAX. The project involves building a new rail station at Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street, just east of the airport. The station will be serviced by Crenshaw/LAX… (losangeles.cbslocal.com) 기타...

This will finally allow public mass transit to directly service LAX, which is currently only accessible via taxis, car rental company shuttle buses, and private vehicles.

Another injustice delivered to California - and also another reason to avoid LAX if at all possible.
You can get closer to your destination and uber to the train for less at severeal So Cal airports.
Walk across the street from Burbank(BUR) to the train, and you'll beat anyone from LAX to downtown, Fly into Ontario (ONT), Orange Co (SNA), Long Beach (LGB) - But LAX screams "Welcome to Los Angeles world we don't care if it takes an hour getting outta of the terminal - or how MUCH time money and time you'll waste renting a car!"

Yes, but when United is selling $44 Denver (and other hub)-LAX flights and BUR, SNA, etc are anywhere from 3-10X the fare, you can be damn sure anyone flying UAL who is even mildly price conscious (or limited by corporate travel policy on lowest fare within X miles) will choose LAX.

I sent two relatively low-ranking employees to LA from Denver last week, and I just couldn't justify spending $900+ more per round trip for them in total to just have them 30-45 mins closer. Maybe a C-suite or high-billing consultant, but not the majority of bag-carrying sales or service folks.

Yes, indeed frustrating. I've often wanted to fly out of BUR but price-wise just couldn't justify it.

ATL did it. Why not LAX? Oh Georgia is a right to work state; California, not so.

Another union hater. If we didn't have unions we'd all be working part-time on the worst Obama Care plan for as long as it's left, earning $5 an hour. Union workers construction or in the rail industry want projects like this to succeed and be built properly. The politicians and all the arrogant self entitled college educated millennials are the ones that screw these things up!!!

Never belonged to a union and managed just fine. Retired now with a pension,401k and social security, none of which needed union membership to gain.

Yea Obama changed unions forever - as a former Union member the unions are responsible for companies, (independently of unions) and because of them, to provide better benefits for without them - and horrible teacher unions provide haven for likewise teachers who should never teach anyone. I guess now Trump will be responsible for everything good and bad... now!

I believe part of the issue with running a light rail line directly to the airport was that you'd either ended up with a dead-end line into the airport which is operationally not ideal or you'd have to tunnel under the airport which would be quite expensive.
