Phenomenal production. Filmed on location at the airport using dozens of real airport staff. Real people in uniform on location!

It's hard to see all the hard work that goes into choreographing the complex movements of all these ameteurs (well they're professionals in aviation, but as far as music videos, amateurs).

Felt a bit stiff, at least as compared to similar efforts pulled off by American high school students. Not sure if it because they're German, or because they're highly paid and all on the clock. It gets expensive to have so many aviation professionals standing around, while doing lots of takes.

I'm guessing it's the time restriction. Highschool students have lots of time to rehearse to perfect the production. Students time costs virtually nothing. I'm wouldn't even want to guess at how much the staff time cost for all these people.

My hats off to these folks for attempting it. It's a lot harder than it looks. Great job.

As per the German quote below "over 200 people from the Munich airport family from the CEO on down..."

Like I said, impressive feat.

Well I guess yes. And you are correct about the wages. German pay rates are the best in the EUR. They have a first class relationship with management too. All in all if you work for a German company you are well looked after. much better than the USA or UK.

yes, thanks ... I couldn't post it on the american squawk because I already added it to my german squawk.

Thanks. I didn't see a video in the original link on my iPad. I'm a bit puzzled at the enthusiasm behind this video. I get the stilted acting by non actors, but what about the crappy music? ... And I'm curious what the two seas referenced by the lyrics are.
Derg
Germans should stick to technology...only good film they made was DAS BOOT. Completely different mindset.

It's not about the "quality" of the acting/production. It's about being a team-building exercise for the staff, and a humanizing element that makes the airports seem friendly and approachable for passengers.

Plus they're getting their viral messaging payload. It's interesting enough that it gets shared in today's social media world.

It wouldn't surprise me if infrequent passengers go back to watch the video before they arrive, depart or transit at Munich. Everyday, people are asking, "Was that you in the video?" "were you in the video?" There were 200+ employees involved. It would be difficult to go through that sitports and not touch or be touched by one of the employees that were featured in the video. They were folks from every conceivable function. And everyone else has uniforms that look exactly like their colleagues in video (for those that were off that day, or were otherwise occupied getting flights out on time). So, you'll get a staff that may he a little less stiff in their dealings with the public.

So on the whole, it's a positive for the airport (even if high school students could make a better video). These were the real people, who work everyday at the airport. If they paid a bunch of actors instead, the production "quality" would go up quickly, but the real "value" of the video would be immediately gone.

My expectations were set by the wording in the original post. It falls far short of that description. Yes, it's a fine team building exercise. The choice of music, though, is really bad. If this really goes viral, I will be surprised. Of course, I expect it to be shared by friends and relatives of everyone in the video. That may make it look viral at first, but then it will quickly die out. At least that's my prediction.

That's a while lot of workplace pride that any amount of improved workplace conditions and improved pay where those are already close to maxed out, can't get you.

If they decrease worker tunnover and increase the quality of future recruits, they can justify the cost. Plus as an added bonus, if you decrease anxiety in a bunch of new fliers, well you'll get get for no additional cost.

Yeah, the plug was slightly oversold, and the video might not live up to the expectations set in the description.

I can just see that being shot in MIA, surly underpaid agents, groping TSA staff, pillagers rummaging the bags.....
Wouldn't be near as well done.

Good job to the promoters.

German airports often hire outside security firms. I have seen teenage young women be made to unzip there denims and the hand of a butch looking guard thrust down her pants. There are plnety of them to prevent civil unrest...and believe me I would be intervening if that was a member of my family. There is not that much diff between venues when it comes to security checks on persons.

woops Fuesrstenfeldbruck

This was in full view of a jam packed air side departure lounge too..must have been at least 400 people who witnessed that violation.

Those people in that video ain't Germans. German wimmen have way longer legs than that. Duff casting. Those wimmen are Brits.
BERspotterDE
LOL xD
This is not a porno film :p ... it's just a promo film ;)
Derg
Oh come on..who are you kidding..
BERspotterDE
I am a German ... and I know real german women :p
Derg
I am CZ Viennese and believe me I had longer experience than you.
BERspotterDE
well ... in this case you might understand these words:
"Rund 200 talentierte Darsteller aus der Münchner Flughafenfamilie - vom Azubi bis zum Geschäftsführer - haben mitgemacht."
;)
Derg
The police guy is too damn fat to be of any use. OK all I can say is they chose the short butts to keep the camera in frame. Further east our wimmen are taller...OK I accept that. Further east our cops have to pass a fitness test. This guy is out of condition. I was in Fuerstenfeldbruek back in 71/73.
Derg
spelling error rusty German Fuerstenfeldbruck...no umlaut.
BERspotterDE
oh ... cool ... I've been to FFB, too! I flew on board of a Luftwaffe Boeing 707 from Cologne to Bardufos, Norway stopping in Fürstenfeldbruck in 1997.
Derg
Luftwaffe are a fine outfit. Do all the security for AF 1,2 and 3 as soon as they hit GBR territory. You got some great people. Lets hope we can stay out of harms way with this mid east nonsense. Servus!
BERspotterDE
let's hope for less victims in Syria ... I'll watch CNN (USA) and RT (Russia) for informations from both sides ;)
Derg
Yup RT and Ajarzera...not everyday..maybe once a month..usually I am tuned to Zack FM 105.3 VHF. You can get that on the internet too. If ya like music a good listen.

Actually, many would be Bavarians, as Munich is in... Bavaria.

[But let's not have a discussion of who is or is not a good German.]

Ah yes, I remember my Münchener German teacher mumbling under his breath "Platzdeutcher!". Parochial regionalism alive and well everywhere.
