It just gets better and better. When it finally does work, 180 - 220 rounds at 3,300 rounds per minute the load will last what 2 - 3 seconds? Great CAS replacement for the A-10.
Well one person said about enough for a good tactical burst and hope you don't miss. They are supposed to replace the A10 which is revered for it's cannon and CAS. And then somebody at the end says they can't envision the need for a gun anyway. Somebody, probably retired now, said that about the F4 too, but they forgot to tell the MIG's over North Vietnam.
As one observer noted, the problem with the A-10 and the Kiowa chopper is that they are both bought and paid for.
Back in the day, the USAF was separated from the Army in order to develop it's own tactics and all, that being one reason. They were given close air support as one of those missions. They either need to maintain the A10 and provide it, provide it with something besides the F35, or give that mission and the A10's to the Army and not have to fool with it anymore.
What they really need to do is ask Saddam's boys over there what they thought of it, but oh wait, I forgot, we ain't gonna need a gun for anything.
One of the Canadians on the RCN forum noted that after the two second burst exhausts the ammunition the pilot can always give them the finger on the way by.
That would really get the attention of them ISIS folks.LOL
