I handled that plane in Sacramento when it was registered to AAL.
It was "N786TW" that was involved, not N787TW

When your Athletic Department is $240 million in the red, this is who you're stuck w/. I don't want to say third or fourth rate charter company w/ aging aircraft, but I'm guessing a legacy carrier pilot/crew would either delay or postpone the flight until better conditions. MD-73's a good bird, but I know nothing of their maintenance record. Also speculating this particular aircraft already had one or two charters to fly that day, so "get-there-itis" may have played a role. I know & understand the FAA & ncaa have guidelines & requirements for Athletic Departments to follow so far as hiring charter companies. Nevertheless, when I see during college football season some of the flights going on; I hold my breath & say a little prayer there's never another Evansville, Cal-Poly, Wichita State, or Marshall type incident. Fortunate that the University of Alabama Athletic Department (that I follow), had a profit of $18.7 million from last year, so the team can afford to fly Delta for football, which is the big money maker. However, TCL does have a smallish 6500 foot runway. JMO.
Is that at KDTW?
