Beginning of the end for Boeing’s 747 jumbo
Almost anyone who’s regularly flown overseas has probably taken at least one trip on a Boeing 747, but the grand dame of the skies is facing the end of her run. Singapore Airlines will bid farewell to the last 747 when the jumbo pays a final visit to Melbourne this weekend, before being replaced by the Airbus A380 superjumbo... (www.ausbt.com.au) 기타...

I too love the 747. Have travelled first, business and cattle. Bound to say that I love the room in the first two and, particularly, the addition carry-on space up top.
But it is visually an amazing aircraft! I still recall the days when I was in Manila Airport and the QANTAS 747 seemed to hover against the evening sky - Dunlops dangling, as they say, and looking huge.
And I remember my first trips - Singapore/Melbourne (the night Elvis died) - a great experience. And upgraded to first.
Prefer the 747 to any Airbus.

After making this comment, it was interesting to see an Air Pacific 747 on the hard at Apia airport last night. Apaprently unable to return to Nadi due to the cyclone. Lovely looking aircraft!
First Air NZ flight from Auckland into the new Changi airport, July 1981. Brand new Jumbo only 1/4 full.
My most enjoyable flight as I stretched out accross the three seats and read Spike Milligan's "Adolf hitler and my part in his downfall" A memorable flight in a wonderful aircraft. Will be sadly missed, thank you Boeing for nmany safe miles over the years.

MY FIRST '400 TRIP WAS SINGAPORE AIRLINES AUCKLAND TO S'PORE IN AROUND 1990, DEFINATELY BEFORE 9/11 AS AFTER SHOWING MY NZ PPL TO THE CABIN CREW I WAS INVITED 'UPSTAIRS' TO THE COCKPIT...WHAT REALLY AMAZED ME WAS HERE, IN THE EPITOME OF AIRCRAFT DESIGN AT THE TIME, THE CREW HAD TO RESORT TO BULLDOG CLIPS AND MANILA ENVELOPES TO BLOCK OUT THE SETTING SUN AS WE FLEW TO THE NORTH OF AUSTRALIA MALCOLM B SMITH BROOME WESTERN AUSTRALIA

I will not fly in a A380 or A330. Like Malcolm Smith flying with
