The article (perhaps to lend creedance to the story) says his security clearance gave him access to documents... Well, what most folks do not know is merely having a clearance, Top Secret or otherwise, does not automatically grant you access to information classified at that level. One must have a need to know and be cleared into that compartment. I'd bet that the mere act of asking to see the documents (if they actually exist) would keep him from getting access. If he had been working in the cleared area and been briefed in, items briefed at the Top Secret level and above, have a lifetime "no discussion" clause ( so I am told). Thus, one could find reason to be sceptical of the story.

Makes you wonder what the motive is for "going public". You either mistrust or you accept. For those who have had experiences they cannot explain it is easy to accept, but that presupposes they have "perfect information" on technology that is a military secret, or they presume that it exists. And of course most aviators in the commercial world are experienced in visual recognition and are what I call "givers", in other words if they can help people they will.

We are not alone...great!
Maybe the FAA will now listen..

Jon.hahaha.. I saw my first USAF experimental machine back in 1967. I only learned it was a USAF in 2010. What that machine was doing is still "impossible" today. In those days the Cold War was raging and this machine was heading East over northern Europe.

Roland, if you are interested in USAF Experimental aircraft, take a trip to the USAF Museum and see their R&D Gallery http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/exhibits/r&d/index.asp at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH near Dayton. You will probably find others you never knew existed.

Thanks Gene I will chase that lead. I have to say I am a very big fan of USA miltary aircraft. I have visited the USAF/USN museum and drooled over the SR-71 they have there in the UK. The machine I saw in 1967 was round and mat black, the same colour as the SR-71. It was low and slow and definately would have been under the radar envelope. I sent all the details off to Michael Schratt in AZ who is an aviation historian. From his work I was able to identify the machine although mine had a paint job that was definitely secret at that time. There were no ident decals at all that I could see. Thanks for that link.

If you get the Military Channel, the Air Force experimented with a single pilot, circular AC that had vertical takeoff capabilities. (It may have been the Avrocar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Canada_VZ-9_Avrocar ) It never advanced beyond the initial prototype.

If you get to Dayton, OH, next to the experimental planes in the same hangar are all the Presidential aircraft including FDR’s, Kennedy’s, etc., some of which you can walk through. Then there is the main museum. Plan on spending a minimum two days there to see everything in a rushed fashion.

Gene: if you go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woMtIHwRL2w and skip forward to the frames at 38 minures you will see the machine I guess I saw. This was located at McDill AFB and the version I saw was the strategic bomber with a 116 feet diam circular shape. In the pic that Schratt has reconstructed the ones shown are silver which I believe is incorrect. The example I saw was in the stealth matt black paint livery with no decals. It had a speed of about 30 to 45 mph and was rock steady at about 150 feet altititude on a track of around 080. Position was 54.5N in Durham County in the UK. An awesome sight.

Roland – The experimental aircraft depicted in your YouTube clip was discussed on the Military, Discovery or History Channel several years ago. However, I question them being visible from the perimeter road at MacDill, a highly urbanized area. If they truly were, that clearly indicates they were experimental, expendable, no longer viable and should have been properly dismantled and shipped to Davis–Monthan AFB.

If you saw the second part of the Michael Schratt interview, after WWII we acquired a lot of the Nazi aeronautical engineers due to their many aircraft advancements during the war. See http://civilianmilitaryintelligencegroup.com/3366/the-amazing-number-of-experimental-nazi-aircraft When you watch this clip, go to 2:56 minutes and see if that doesn’t remind you of your aircraft. Who knows, it may have been the first US prototype built that even crashed in Rosewell. Only time will tell!

I will leave you with one last thought. When the government retires a top of the line aircraft, such as the SR71 that I saw in the 1960s, don’t you think they have something better replacing its capabilities?
Derg
Gene: I have read that the Skoda factory in Cz was making a machine post 1939 using electro magnetic forces and the project had some success. The clip shown at 2:56 could have been the machine I saw because it passed directly overhead. I was 13 years old at the time and somewhat excited! It was totally silent though. Yes I see your logic about the sighting at MacDill. I am sure the military had the next generation of the SR in service before they retired the SR71. The current machines, I have read, can move at more than 8,000 mph over a long distance, and hopefully at 100+K feet. Thanks for that link to the Nazi era.

Nut job
jonprovencher
There are hundreds of UFO reports every year. Surely they can't all be because of nutjobs and weather balloons. Besides, he's not claiming it to be extraterrestrial in any way--it's simply unidentified.
