6 People Die in Piper Navajo Crash
Six people lost there lives when a Piper Navajo crashed 1000 feet short of the runway they were about to land on. (www.montgomeryadvertiser.com) 기타...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
They were not diverting. Flight plan was for Tuscaloosa. 1000 feet short of runway. No fire reported.
Out of gas or trouble/forgot to switch to those tanks?
Plane had temp tanks installed 20 years ago..

I don't know what two ferry tanks that were temporarily installed in 1996 have to do with the cause of the crash.
ah disregard as to flight plan... they did divert. my bad.
The posted article is pay walled but most are not. Once again, I grieve for those who were lost, and those who were not. He clearly diverted for an engine problem and one photo IMHO clearly shows a feathered L prop. No speculation here, but heavy piston twins (over 6000 lbs.), or any piston twin, is a handful when everything is working. And for those who are interested, I'd say weather was not "a factor" as the NTSB will phrase it in the report in a year or so.
