it is true that the aircraft climbs better with minimum, nearly empty fuel tanks up to the point where the fuel runs out.

A good landing is one you can tow away from
kerimparrot
Yeah THE HOOKER (tow truck) got a job
Would the AAA cover it?
pthomas745
Everyone knows you need fully rested fuel.
w7psk
Just a minor look at the fuel guages at minimum.
alan75035
You can never have enough fuel, unless you're on fire.

Hello sir, I'm from the FAA and have a few questions for you...

Kudos for getting the emergency landing part right.

Tired fuel is no excuse. That fuel needs to get 10 hours of rest before going to work in the engine.
paul8626
Now if you could get 130/145 octane fuel again your fuel would have more energy and wouldn't get exhausted as quickly.

Memo to self, double check fuel calcuations.
SorenTwin
Or do them at least once.
Foymount
Lesson of the day, when on an interstate and you see a 172 in your side mirrors
pull over to the shoulder to give more room for single engine glider to land on centerline.
WALLACE24
One small problem. Half of the drivers never use their rear facing mirrors for driving purposes.

The use of 1 "thing" could have help prevented this from happening.......a CHECKLIST!

I've read on the Internet that gluten-free fuel is healthier.

Fuel exhaustion is often due to brain exhaustion during the planning and preflight stages.

So, not much homework yields, KFPR-KVRB, 10.5 NM's (I'm bein generous here) and the stoner takes off on the back side of the clock and runs outta gas on the way home. 10 bucks says he's an FO in an AB in 2 years in a third world country. He's in a flight school. Not Flight Safety. JMHO.
Highflyer1950
I can't take that bet!

At least this Arab learned how to land a plane too - not like his brethern of 16 years ago who didn't want to practice landings in the XX7 simulators

We were a bit overweight, guys, so we took off light on fuel. We gotta hit a tanker at... Uh Oh...

"All southbound lanes were slowed down on I-95 while the plane was towed 11 miles to a rest area. It arrived at the rest stop just before 8 a.m. where it will be disassembled and then taken to a local airport."

It ran out of fuel. What am I missing here? Instead of slowing traffic for 11 miles so it could be towed to a rest area, disassembled and trucked to an airport, why not just put 20 gallons of fuel in it, block the road for two minutes and fly it off? By someone other than the meathead who ran out of fuel and landed it on the Interstate, of course. My question is sincere. I don't understand. Perhaps someone will state the reasons in the comments?
joelwiley
Just a couple of thoughts. Would you like to play 'you bet your life' it was just out of gas? Did something break that was not noticeable in the weeds. Another question 'why not disassemble at the landing site?'

If you are too lazy or stupid to check the fuel and oil -- stick with cars before you hurt yourself or somebody else. Who in hell is teaching him? His instructor can't be much if this is the best he or she can do. I'm glad I started in 1961. They were not so forgiving of mistakes back then. And, you were told in in terms that you did not forget.
WALLACE24
You prolly didn't even have a "safe space" to go to.

"Caution- 172's in mirror are closer than they appear"

So are low wing PA28's like the one featured in this event. Interesting that they taped over the N Number - but I'm going for European Flight Training's PA-28 N448ND...... :-)

Why yes - here it is:
