In a remake of what happened at Gander in the aftermath of 9/11, Passengers stranded in Deer Lake get Christmas dinner from residents

제출됨

When 75 passengers got stranded in Deer Lake on Dec. 25, Brian Snow helped pull the community together in something he calls Come From Away: Christmas Day. The Salvation Army employee gave up Christmas with his family to organize efforts to feed the passengers, and he loved every second of it. (www.cbc.ca) 기타...

A wonderful and very Canadian story. Thank you Deer Lake. The rabbit stew would be a first for many I think.

I think this line sums it up best: Brian Snow > "To me it was what Christmas is all about. The real meaning of Christmas." Amen to that and thank you Deer Lake for showing it.

Gander is in Newfoundland, but Red Deer is in Alberta.

Well It's amazing How in adversity communities pull together . Here in Australia Bushfires wreak and communities come together bringing house hold items and presents for children , Canada send Fire personal to help those at the front . unbelievable giving Hope well done Deer Lake .

"That's what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown!"

Couldn't help but think of Linus answering Charlie Brown from the holiday classic!

It should be. The West coast of Newfoundland is one of the most beautiful area of Canada much like fjords around Cornerbrook. You will not encounter a Newfie who is not friendly and helpful You might even pick up a new and colorful language that probably will not serve you well at home but is normal on "The Rock" as they refer to their province.

While vacationing a year ago in beautiful western NL , the wife got sick near Deer Lake and wound up in the operating room down the Trans Canada at nearby Corner Brook. The folks at Deer Lake, the airport staff, and the professionals at the regional hospital were absolutely wonderful ! We had many Christmas experiences during those two difficult weeks...far away from home in Kentucky .

I hope the passengers are thankful for what he did. Boy does it remind Canadians of Gander on 9/11?
