All utter rubbish, they collect the money, they do not provide the service nor incur in any variable costs, they sure as hell have to refund, end of story.

Perfect storm for the incompetent buffoon

No, “real” pilots do not concur, it is shameful by you and Boeing to blame the deased. Hundreds of real pilots, in the US and abroad are suing Boeind. Get informed.

Any US airport that involves foreign flights coming requiring customs is a disaster, JFK, MIA, LAX, SFO you can easily spend 1 hour plus going through the whole ridiculous ritual. You should go through the machines and straight through, with human supervision required for “special cases”.

So this appears to be a XXI century perfect storm. You take “the workhorse of the skies” you add a whole series of profit maximizing requirements and find that it will not fly. Just like VW Mercedes et al with the emissions fraud, you get the software people to make the thing fly. You kinda hide some of the embroidery out of embarrassment, collusion or criminal neglect but it happens. People die, you go into denial, it becomes clear that the FAA does not do their job (who needs regulation anyway right? Yuck yuck..well only when dealing with humans). What was the motivation behind this whole sordid affair now affecting a once great company? Money. Not for future research, not to better compete with Airbus but to reward the Board, the key executives, the major shareholders. Sordid is to kind a word for this.

How can safety be an “option “ on a plane worth tens of millions. Welcome to todays World where the pursuit of profit turns normal people into cretins. Then people preach about not needing regulations. The only people who need regulations are humans, because, given the opportunity, they will lie, cheat and steal to get ahead. Not all, but enough to really count.

Part of the problem may be that the configuration of the plane, with the new engine placement, has made the plane only able to FBW, assuming perfect software and sensors. Pilots cannot handle the plane manually because the feel is strange. Boeing looks bad on this one. Imagine degree of flight training required being part of the pricing?

A non controversy, the pilot is very aware of his plane’s situation, the ATC is aware of everything else, hence clear communication, mutual respect (duh) and teamwork.
