Airbus A319 (N710UW)

I have only seen four RTOs over the many years I've been at RNO. All four (this one, a Sun Country B737, an AA B757, and a Southwest B737) were declared while the jets were still at fairly low speed and in all four instances the jets stopped no more than 2/3rds of the way down the runways. Never any danger.

Good catch Gman...yes..in the 40+ yrs hugging the fences on the west coast, Ive seen maybe 4 also...all good, no major events. I have video of an Airbus 310 for FedEx that made the news on KTVU 2 in Oakland 1996?? where the 310 was departing SJC and aborted just before rotation and the Pilot threw the fences up and full locked wheel skid on 30L for about 400ft....with a Reno Air MD-82 on 3mi final...the Reno jet went to immediate engine pitch change and started climbing on the runway heading as I kept filming the 310 on the runway. I had the video posted on jetvideos.net until they went belly up. I'll have to find the cassette and re upload, it was quite the show, famed Aviation photographer Mark Durbin was with me, he thought they blew a tire, but no. Further investigation was the had an engine surge and that was pushing the jet sideways for the dirt and they aborted, departed 3 hrs later.

Hey, Tom. I was at RNO yesterday when an inbound QX Dash 8 radioed requesting all equipment. They had just lowered the gear and believed they had dropped a tire somewhere north of Reno. Everything rolled. The QX made a low gear-down pass right by the tower. I snapped it as it came by low overhead and all six Goodyears were there. The F/Chief radioed that he was not able to see all six gear doors so maybe one of those had come off when the gear came down for landing. I checked my pics and all 6 doors were there. The QX circled while the FAs prepped the pax for the landing. I was clicking everything as it landed. The pilots touched it down so smoothly I never even saw any rubber burning. It stopped, Ops looked it over, and then it taxied to the terminal while Ops made a runway check just to insure there was no debris. Local REMSA ambulance was there along with USAF ambulance and trucks and, of course, RTAA fire and crash units. It was a textbook perfect response. Got it all in photos.
