The sad result of gorgeous scenery, no one looking forward, and tragic timing.

Not really as you have no idea what happened as the tour plane pilot isnt watching the scenery he is watching where he was going. Visibility is not always guaranteed when flying the nose on a Beaver is huge and blocks lots out. The report says two planes tried to be in the same place at the wrong time. Nothing else of value either. Flying low is not a good thing most of the time as aircraft taking off and landing are in that area. But must not be a pilot making that statement or know little about flying.

I’ve flown in the Beaver and you are correct about visibility over the nose but it is quite good out the windshield. I’ve also flown tours and no matter how many times you’ve flown the route you look at what you are pointing out to the passengers as you scan for traffic. As you know, two planes on a collision course have no relative motion to each other and it is motion that attracts the attention of the human eye. These planes just grew larger in a fixed place in each other’s windshield and if/when either pilot noticed it was too late. I assign no blame. As of now it is simply a tragedy that we all must learn from or risk repeating.

Safe travels and blue skies.

Worthless report so far just two planes ran into each other beyond that there will be nothing else of value coming out of this. Same thing just happened in AK yesterday with the same result, low flying, hard to see real well and no time to react.

Preliminary report just sets out the known facts: who, what, when, where. As investigation refines what’s known the NTSB will eventually make a final report stating probable cause: why this happened. Not much to go on here: no survivors, likely no flight recorders on either plane.
