Awesome time-lapse shows the complete disassembly of a U-2 Dragon Lady spy plane

제출됨

Here is exclusive footage showing how their technicians disassemble an entire U-2 spy plane for inspection. It’s a remarkable feat because every part of the plane gets inspected and repaired or replaced if necessary. That is, more than 40,000 rivets and 1,800 individual parts gets looked at and then gets reassembled for every 4,700 flight hours. This attention to detail is how the U-2 Dragon Lady manages to fly for decades without issues. (www.youtube.com) 기타...

I'd like to know what medium they are using to remove the paint!

Either dry ice or soda blasting is used as any type of abrasive like sand will damage the aluminum and any chemical stripper is no longer used. I know they are using something else by the picture by the way.

I'll never forget the first time I saw one of these. Being an Army grunt, I thought it was very special. I was on leave trying to catch a hop out of Osan Air Base in Korea, we were just hanging around outside the terminal smoking (LMAO), and one rolled out of a hanger, went right to the runway, and took off, and then went almost straight up. I was sitting there with my mouth hanging open wondering if I actually saw it or not.
