FAA Kicks Off "No Drone Zone" Effort for D.C. Area

제출됨

May 13– As hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to the Washington, D.C. area for their summer vacations and residents join them on city streets and at public gatherings, the Federal Aviation Administration has a clear message for everyone: Leave Your Drone at Home. (www.faa.gov) 기타...

Enforcement is going to be the difficult part. With no licensing or training requirements any schmo on the street can walk into a store and buy one, or order it online, and have no regard for such zones, even if they know about them. Their attitude is going to be, "Yeah, I'm not supposed to but... look at how cool it is! And how they gonna catch me, huh? And if they do I'll just pay the fine."

The people who it will hurt are the young entering this as a hobby not something that they are bent on doing harm to others with. Those who are causing problems can probably be traced to other actions.

Apparently the guy who was arrested with a drone at the White House today hasn't heard of this effort.

Guarantee his defense is going to be one of the following, or a combination of them:

Ignorance of the laws ("I didn't know!"
Innocent intentions ("I was just having fun! I'm no terrorist.")
"Rights" ("I'm an 'Merican! I have a right to fly a drone anywhere I want! It's in the Constitution!")
Why pick on me" ("But they didn't arrest any of those other people doing (various infractions of various laws)! Why are you singling me out?")
Conspiracy ("The Government doesn't want me to show you the Truth! My drone would have revealed Big Secrets that THEY don't want you to know about!")
Or, the ever popular ("I'm being targeted because I'm a (racial group, religious group, ethnic group, sexual preference group, take your pick)!")

FAA Launches 'No Drone Zone' Campaign

While the FAA is still establishing rules to govern unmanned aircraft systems, the agency continues to deliver materials to educate members of the public about what they can and cannot do with their drones. Most recently, the FAA has launched a campaign to make the public aware of a No Drone Zone in the area around Washington, D.C.

"Federal rules prohibit any aircraft from operating in the Flight Restricted Zone around our nation's capital without specific approval," said U.S. transportation secretary Anthony Foxx. "That includes all unmanned aircraft."
