Most likely be built as a second generation An-225. Preserving Antonev’s legacy in building a large aircraft which will be more efficient and mission capable. The thought of an aircraft such as this returning to the skies with today’s technology is exciting. Mriya is part of Ukraines National Pride. It will take a large amount of money, and some time, but human will, will make it happen.

God bless Ukraine!

I hope I live long enough to see this plan come to fruition. I saw Mryia in the late 80s when it first came to Oakland, Ca, and again a couple of years ago. One majestic beast.

This is wonderful, and I hope they can pull it together in under a decade. Antonov has the original drawings to base the new design on, so with modern materials, engines and avionics, this new 225 will take the company to the beginning of the next century

Slava Ukraini!

I hope they can pull it off. When I saw what was left of the old one, I almost cried. It was a fantastic aircraft, especially for those huge cargoes which otherwise needed land/sea transportation.

Hope it is still a 6 engine design. But with today's engines, they could probably do it easily with 4.

We will not see this in our lifetime.

Fantastic but it will take years

I wonder if I'll be qualified to fly it by the time it gets finished.

This sounds like they aren't going to use the partial airframe they already have?
JMARTINSON
From what I have read the primary barrier to using the partial airframe is it's too much partial and not enough airframe... and a significant share of what's missing was manufactured in 1980's Russia. The clean sheet one-off idea seems even less realistic, but what do I know.

Agreed, probably too hard to update for current tech.

..will believe it ... when it flies..

People need to read or at least scan the squawks - THEN post. Far too much duplicity & spam.

They have a spare airframe, get started! They should have the funds since we've sent them BILLIONS!

Unless they can defend & rid themselves of the pesky Rooskies, there’s no point in developing a new AN-225. I wish them well of their endeavor.

Are you serious ? Ukraine didn't spend it on new airplanes, they spent it on munitions to stop these Russian aholes
