United is reportedly close to place largest-ever widebody order in history
According to sources familiar with the matter, United Airlines is close to placing an order for more than 100 widebody aircraft as it evaluates offers for both the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Airbus A350. If materializes, it will be one of the largest-ever long-haul airplane in history. (www.airlinerwatch.com) 기타...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
I am hoping that the competition is fair and AB does not get government subsidies so they can offer a lower cost. Boeing cannot get government subsidies.

IMHO, this will come down to price and other benefits (% of build done in USA) as the order is large. Hopefully there will be T&Cs that would protect them from any future Boeing misteps / failures. That company is not stable at this time.

Boeing should offer Dream Liners/777x (in future) AND buy back United's wide bodies for conversion to freighters for that hot market.
United has a heck ton of older Boeing widebodies - their 767-300s are the oldest planes in their entire fleet and they still operate some of the first 777-200s to come off the assembly line. That being said, I wonder if United would even want to sell them back since they seem to like these planes quite a lot and seems to want to run them until they meet their service lives.
